      How image compressor works

Compression means throwing away detail the eye is unlikely to notice. This tool re-encodes each image at the quality you choose, and can also cap the width — the single biggest win for photos straight out of a phone.

      • Try WebP at 75% first: it is typically 25–50% smaller than the original JPG at the same visual quality.
      • For screenshots and flat graphics, PNG keeps edges sharp but rarely shrinks much.
      • Watch the "saved" number next to each result before you download.

      FAQ

How much smaller will my images get?

Photos usually drop 50–80% with WebP at 75%. Flat graphics and screenshots shrink less because PNG is already efficient for them.

Can I compress without changing the format?

Pick JPG for JPG originals or PNG for PNG originals. Note that re-encoding a JPG always loses a little quality, so keep the original if you need it later.

Are the images uploaded to compress them?

No. The compression runs in your browser using the canvas encoder; the files never leave your device.
